Welcome To Qamar Free Library

It was established in 1939 but its necessity and importance was mentioned wat back in 1927, when a brother named Abdul Hamid Abdul Gafoor printed & distributed a handbill in Jamaat. Then again in 1938 a letter was published in ‘Muslim Gujarat’ requesting to start a library. So with the aim of

  • To keep abreast with national events and world news
  • To organise debate & lecture programmes
  • To bring various bazm& Arjumans of Jamaat on one platform etc.

It was named ‘The Muslim Free Library’.

The library enjoyed moral & financial support of Patni Jamaat & Patni Coop Credit Society right from the beginning and continued to do so till today. The books and the magazines were largely donated by  Janab Mohammed Usman Topiwala Sahab who was publishing ‘Qamar’ monthly magazine at that time. In 1942 Mr. Mohammed Usman Topiwala died in very young age, hence it was decided to add his takhallus Qamar to library’s name and from than on the library is known as ‘The Qamar Free Library’.
